I have a V7 Stone with 800 miles on it and after it came back from the dealer for first service I noticed it had a code when I turned the key on.

When I started it the bike made an odd squealing sound
I shut it off and after two more attempts at starting it the bike ran fine.

Oil level is perfect.

I have a call into the dealer.

Any ideas?

This is a 2015 V7 Stone. Not the V7ii.
 
Please let us know. I thought I knew the V7 Stone pretty well (I had one until I sold it and got a V7II Stone) and I never heard about codes displaying on its dash (except for the MAINT reminder). Is it possible that you mis-read the MAINT reminder, which actually looks more like "MI nt" in an alphanumeric kludge?
 
NA int = Maintenance. The reset procedure is done from the dashboard buttons. See your manual.
 
If it came back from the dealer still showing the MAINT reminder, take it back and tell the dealer he didn't finish the job.

May not be worth the aggravation to take it back. If it is like the CARC bikes, it cannot be reset until the service icon or code appears.

With 800 miles on it when he brought it in, the MAINT indicator would have been on already.
 
Yes, so what happened is I took it in for dealer service and this NAINT which yes is Maintenance didn't show up for a few more miles.
With that said, I asked the dealer and he didn't get back to me before you guys did and I just did as you suggested, and the notification went away.
I held the left button down (that chrome one on the dash) and turned the key on and continued holding until I was satisfied that something good perhaps happened. : )
I turned the key off, turned it back on and that message is history baby, history I tell you. Until the next time of course.
I have no idea if there will be a next time.

I must say that some folks on here and other forums have very negative feelings about Guzzi's. Makes me wonder if I screwed up buying one. Nah, I didn't.
I don't listen to nay sayers.

Anyway, enjoying the bike at 900 miles and plan to really get to ride it this year. I bought it last fall in October and got a screaming good price so it made sense to go with the V7 instead of a V7ii. Besides that 6 speed just isn't required and the other updates don't interest me.

I plan to do some day rides which are 5 hour shots over into Indiana and then mostly commuting to the business.

Can't easily take it back to my dealer. He's 2 hours south and a bunch of work for me to arrange time to get there.

He's a great guy though and really wanted to help me figure it out. It was a new one to him.
 
From the manual:
The next time the vehicle is started, the value will be reset and the word "MAInt" will not be displayed until the next mileage for which maintenance is foreseen.

Therefore the MAINT message will appear on the display first at 1,000 kilometers, and again at 7,500, 15,000, 22,500, 30,000, 37,500, 45,000, 52,500, and 60,000 kilometers.

I'm pretty sure that the specified maintenance interval for this bike is 10,000 km, not 7500 km, as it was for earlier models (before 1 TB). HOWEVER, MG never got around to updating the instrument panel to reflect this change, so you are right that it will indicate maintenance is required at the (incorrect) 7500 km (6214 mi) intervals.

thanks for the tip. i got rid of that alert by the help of your post.
 
Turn the key on. put the lid on, and by that time you won't ever see that stupid message. That's what I do. Then I hit the starter, gives the puter time to fire up and settle in.
