Indian has a 'Dark Horse' version that seems to succeed with this overall stylistic theme -- that would be the bike I'd pick over this guzzi monstrosity.

Altho I do own a Victory that is owned by the same company that makes Indians that is as close to an American V-Twin that I want.

I've owned the Cal1400 & test rode Indian and to me there is no comparison. The Indian is nice but really it is just another cruiser, the famed power is really not there, yes there is some low end grunt but it seems to disappear quickly. The 1400 was quicker off the line & passing from 65 or 70 mph the Guzzi was hitting triple digits in three car lengths while both the Vic & the Indian are hard put to hit 100.

To put it mildly the Vic & the Indian do not have the soul of a Guzzi.
I have a 1989 Guzzi Mille GT that plasters a smile on my face every time I ride it.
Guzzi's are the only bikes I have ever owned that no matter how long I had ridden that day when I get off I always turn around and smile & stare at her.

No argument here - I totally agree. I also test road an Indian and was def underwhelmed. Frankly my Yamaha raider surpassed the Indian on many levels for about 1/2 the cost. And the California 1400 beats both hands down. BUT ... I was just refereeing to the looks of the new guzzi bagger -- not a fan. Way overdone, over stylized. I will stick with my over performing and under-stated cali 1400.

Forgot to mention, the shifting on my Yama Raider is good, the Guzzi is Sweeeet (like butter) and the Indian, forget about it. not just clunky but horrible. But .. even worse was the Ducati Diaval -- false neutrals all over the place -- scary bad. Just as an aside, they say the diaval engine is good, I was NOT impressed. Like you said, the guzzi makes me smile, but if you want an awesome power plant, check out the Honda vfr1200 -- now there's an engine that's great!! Too great in fact, dangerous and crazy fast.

I don't like the looks either. That probably means they will sell a bunch of them.
The Diaval engine is so bloody noisy whenever I hear one I'm looking for an oil slick.

I like the Audace more than this one...

I do like the fully blacked out forks on this vs the audaces as I'm not as big of a fan of the shiny top end of the front forks on it.

I am kinda curious how this bike will handle to dual lcd screens on the panel. You could have a lot of extra data shown.

The pre-Production version shown at the Austin GP, which I spoke with Miguel Galluzzi at length there about, was quite intriguing.
He said it will come with carbon panels to go in place of the bags, and the carbon inserts on the front wheel are removable and leave a cool looking wheel when off.
Though not my type of ride... I may still grab one for RentAGuzzi duties.

I am not big fan of the "black" look, but like the bike overall. In time the "black" trend will go away and we will perhaps get some colors to choose.

Having rode one, I like it! Handles well and the reports of " iffy " handling at low speeds are greatly exaggerated. Very smooth delivery of power.
