This happens whenever I leave the bike parked outside in the sun for more than 5 minutes or even in the shade on a hot day. From what I can tell its the right side cylinder not firing. To keep it from dieing I have to rev it up to about 3k and hold it there for 10-20 seconds until it catches and idles normal. I have no idea what the problem is but the bike it still under the 1-year warranty (we get a 1 year warranty from the dealership right?) should I just take it in?

I know this isnt a guzzi problem cause my Califonia never did anything like this.

The warranty is actually 2 years, it's good to familiarize yourself with all the small print that comes with the bike. Your problem is a new one to me. I doubt that the hot sun will make your engine warmer than it gets while it's running. On the other hand, if your fuel tank emission system valve isn't working correctly, so that the hot sun pressurizes the tank, AND if you have a leaky injector, I can imagine that you can get a flooded cylinder in he hot sun.

My 2007 Norge had the same symptoms. Removing the evap system and venting the tank normally to the air fixed it. So if you want to keep the evap system then it may be similar to what Sib said so I guess they can see if the tip over valve is not releasing the pressure.

It's under warranty, it's a new bike, take it back and get it fixed.
Start changing things on the bike which may or may not cure the problem could end up invalidating that warranty, then what do you do?

If you have some experience wrenching then pulling the evap system may very well fix the problem.
As far as warranty goes that will be a dealer call & if the dealer has been around Guzzi's for any length of time he knows why it is gone & will still honor the warranty.
If you are new to the game & not sure or confident then by all means don't touch anything & take it to the dealer.

More than likely the sun is heating the fuel causing pressure in the tank.
This can cause fuel to be pushed into the evap cannister & when starting the bike the engine vacuum pulls the raw gas into the combustion chamber & floods the engine with raw fuel.

It is not an uncommon problem. One way to test would be to run the bike with only a half tank of gas for the next week or so or a couple hundred miles. The flooding will usually occur when the tank is full & the heat/pressure forces the fuel into the vent line.

If you are thinking that the RS cylinder is not firing then you can carry an extra spark plug in your pocket. Before starting the bike pull off the plug wire & connect it to the xtra plug. Lay the threaded part of the plug on metal then hit he starter button. If you see the plug sparking you have fire & it probably is a fuel issue.

follow up for anyone browsing this years from now:

I took the bike to the dealership, they looked over everything and said that the valves were too loose and this was causing the O2 sensor to freak out, they tightened them up back to spec and reset all the sensors and that seems to have fixed it.
