I'm getting close (I hope) to finishing a near compete restoration of a G5. I have exhaust headers and crossover, but I haven't yet felt a great desire to part with $500 for a pair of Lafranconi repros. Someday, maybe, but for now just looking for a pair of relatively quiet slip-ons of the classic bike genre. Anybody have recommendations?

Cheers,

Frey

I too have a G5. Great bike.
Do you have the old muffs? I lost one once upon a time, and put on a strange repro... not the same.

I put on a set of Lafranconi Racing muffs for a while. They sound very nice. Not too loud. Expensive however, I put the orig back on.
Now-a-days the original G5's sound good to me.

What seat are you using? I got very tired (and sore) from the two up seat. After replacing the foam (more soft), I wound up switching to Harper's Solo seat. Very satisfied with that.

Yeah, I have the old muffs. They're rusting out from the rear and the inside is crumbly. No idea what they sounded like as the Popemobile was not running when I bought it. Wonder if it's possible to replace the innards?

It actually came with two seats; was wearing the enormous king and queen seat in poor condition, and the original was in outstanding condition. I took the foam off the k&q and may some day cover some new foam for a more cafe-style seat.

One thing I'm short is the little, red plastic jobbie on the fuel tank cover that holds the lock core. Was thinking of trying to make one, since I can only find the entire cover for sale.

I missed that prob... am using an older tank W/O that cover thingy.
