I have a 2013 NTX that I bought new in January 2015 from Moto-I in Seattle. I've never been happy with the very abrupt off-idle transition, and the backfiring on deceleration. With 20k miles on the clock I finally took it to the dealer (Elk Grove PS in Sacramento) to see if they could improve anything. They replaced the exhaust gaskets (under warranty) and rebalanced the throttle bodies (along with a full service), but no real improvement other than a slight reduction in backfiring. They also claim the ECU flash is the most current available. Any suggestions from other NTX owners most welcome.

Thanks, Erik

The gaskets are a start to the popping on decel, but both of those symptoms (popping and snatchy throttle) are due to the lean conditions of the 8V motors for emissions. The abrupt throttle response can be lessoned by taking all the slack out of the throttle cables but only slightly. You do get used to it however the only way to correct it and the popping on decel is modifying the fuel maps (ECU Reflash) and/or a PCV/AT system that Todd offers to richen it up. There is really no other reliable way of doing it.

Thanks. Pretty much the conclusion I had reached. I just ordered Todd's full kit.

My 2013 ntx has very smooth fuel transition and very little backfiring on overrun. I have not found the stock mapping to be a problem. Lovely smooth acceleration throughout the rev range. Everything stock except a BMC air filter.
