how do I drain and bleed my clutch on Breva 850

Hi,

Noticed last time I topped up the hydraulic in the the pot on the clutch lever the oil was dirty. Riding back home for about 30min the clutch went flat intermittently. It's OK now for reasons best unknown to me.

Any body who can advise d. Since the o huffy_
 
Suck out the dirty fluid in the master cylinder I use a large syringe, but a turkey baster will work as well. Put in fresh. The bleeder for the clutch is under the seat clipped next to the battery. Bleed like you would any system. I use a clear plastic hose on the end of the bleeder and rout it to a container to catch the dirty fluid. Open the bleeder and slowly squeeze the clutch. at the end of travel, close the leader and then release the clutch lever. Repeat until all you get out of the bleeder is clean fluid and no air bubbles. Also be ready to top up the reservoir because if you let it go down too far you will introduce air into the system.

BTW, not only should the clutch fluid be replace every couple years, the brake fluid should be changed at the same interval. If you have DOT 4 fluid it is good for both systems.
 
I use a cotton ball held in needle nose pliers to empty a dirty MC reservoir. I lay out rags to catch any drips. I used to change brake fluid every spring, but now it's every other spring.

Thanks so much. I was suspecting that cable under the seat, but I just wanted to be sure. I've gotten the DOT 4 fluid so will sort that out tomorrow.
