I am getting ready to install the electric version of the Audiovox cruise control on my 2007 Norge. I previously installed the vacuum assisted unit on my Kawasaki Concours and it works very well and I understand how the vacuum unit works. This time I am going to try the electric unit on the Norge. I am wondering if anyone out there has installed this unit yet.
I am not 100% sure I know how to connect the electric unit into a Norge even though I am an electrical engineer by profession. My basic question is, "Where is the VSS signal wire connected to?" I don't really want to install the auxiliary road speed sensor.

John Henry (Zoom Zoom) installed an audiovox cruise control on his Norge and wrote a very detailed post complete with photos on it.
I don;t know how to link to articles, but if you enter " cruise control" in the search box you will find his posts. Best of luck.

I read all of the posts from John's installation. That installation was for the vacuum unit. The all electric unit does not require the use of the vacuum canister and is one less large item to have to locate. The vacuum unit can be programmed to use the tach signal as the speed reference however the electric unit needs to have both the tach signal and the speed signal connected. There is a web article about a guy who wired the electric unit up to an FJR1300 however it is so cryptically written as to be almost useless as a reference source: another electrical engineer - go figure. It would also appear from the wiring diagram for the electric unit that the problem of the LED brake light circuit is resolved. There are two signal wires for the brake control disconnect: one for the brake "hot" and one for the brake "cold".
I will figure this thing out one way or the other so stay tuned. I understand that tech support for this item is pretty good if you don't tell them it is being installed on a motorcycle. You'd think that they would make an exception for the Norge however :)

The servo motor fit perfectly where the charcoal can used to be. I even used the same clamp Guzzi used for the charcoal can. FWIW. That was a perfect fit and location for it.

Seb, I've been thinking about your question. I have to admit to some facination of the electric unit. I would guess that would eliminate the resouviour as well, leaving more space under the tank.

This might be a good question to ask a dealer. Would it be possible to tap into the speedo/abs pickup on the front wheel? Another option might be to add a small bracket there and see if the slotted ring could trigger the magnet. I don't know, just thinking.

Zoom Zoom,
John Henry
