I assumed it was a typical US style but it isn't. Doesn't quite look like a BMW one. My local dealer guy on the phone didn't quite know. What is it?

Unless it was changed on yours by someone else, they are a standard cigarette lighter socket. R u the original owner. If not, could be a Powerlet plug

OK, all my various plugs are way loose in it but it works, I was fooled because it's keyed, of course. My home brew ones for 12 years were always hot so as a creature of habit thought it wasn't working. Looks like some kludging will be needed to make a plug fit tight. The manual says 50W max, between the two even, but the lettering right on the cover says 180W. I suppose a blown fuse would tell the tale. In a pinch when touring I do take a small inverter so I can charge a laptop. If these won't handle it I'll wire my own in

Really loving the big gal so far.

The only other pressing early thing is the terrible quality of the luggage locks, I thought I had seen something, maybe on Twisted Throttle, about upgrades but cant find anything now. Any suggestions?

There is a clip on YouTube on how to modify the Trax locks so you can unlock and remove the key. I did this. It's an easy mod. Insert the key, remove barrel retaining clip, file off the little stop on the barrel step, reassemble. Made sure you leave the key inserted when doing this or the brass wafers will drop out. I leave the pannier lids unlocked all the time unless I leave the bike. I did not modify the carrier locks so these are always locked when on the bike. It made life a lot easier when touring
When I fitted my topbox I swapped the brass wafers around so I could use the same key on all luggage.
