Apologies to those coming out of winter hibernation, glorious weather so took a ride out to La Mola one of the largest and most impressive fortresses in Europe. The fortress was built in the 1800's as due to renewed threats of a possible British invasion, the Spanish began work on fortifying La Mola in 1847. Rivalry between the British and French, during the 19th century was evident in Menorca, which was a shipping route used by both the British and the French, between Toulon and Algeria, and Gibraltar and Malta. The fortress was also used as a military prison during the Spanish Civil War, and has been used for film productions including the Hornblower tv series.

Ah, Hornblower. After looking at those pix, thought they looked familiar, though I've never been there ... except possibly at 30K+ feet up.

Thanks for posting. Looks lovely ... and warm. I am, however, about to go out and see if I can still ride a motorcycle. Taking the Norge out in a bit for a brief but fun romp.

Bill

Great pics Robert. Do you live on Menorca? If so, it's only an hour to ride from one end to the other. How do you keep that Guzzi under control on such a small Island?

Btw, winter hibernation is over. Summer arrived with a vengeance this week. It's +30C all next week.

I have lived here for 14 years, granted it is a small island but there are some interesting back roads. We try to get off the island in the Spring and Autumn mainly to Mallorca, which is a short ferry trip away. Invariably ride out most Sunday's with a group, predominantly Harley's but also Metric cruisers. Had a ride out last Saturday taking in all the light houses, more than 260 kilometres round trip.
I will post some pics but have this to contend with first.
