Well the truth of the matter is that I have no self control.
The Grizz is simply the most incredibly fun bike to ride & ride fast.
As much as I try to keep it below 80 mph this bike is comfortable at 90.

I can't help rolling the throttle half way thru a curve and totally enjoying the rush when the tach sweeps past 6000.
Top speed to date as logged in memory is 129.
I'm riding on the street albeit remote country roads but it is still on public roadways & my conscience is bothering me.

I either have to give up the bike or ride her on a track.

There is a 2 mile track about 1-1/2 hours away: Jennings Motor Speedway in Jennings FL.
I'm not interested in competing against other riders but would really like the freedom from worry about possibly hurting another person from riding so fast on the street.
I would really like to see what I can do on a track & also see if it will satisfy my speed addiction between "race days".

Rear tire is bald again so I'm going to think about it before changing it out.

Several outfits hold track days there and even some schools. I'd recommend looking into those options.

Fun(ny), and yes, all true. Luckily living here in the Southwest makes that a big handful easier.
So let me make a recommendation from a former racer and track day school owner, if you do, do NOT skimp on tires. I caught your post on a Shinko, invest in good tires... put on one of the newest sport tires like Dunlop Q3+ or equivalent. However, do NOT use DOT race tires unless you are racing.

Todd,
Had not even thought about DOT race tires but am curious about your recommendation.
Because of handling or wear? or...???

Copied from online...
Street tires are designed to work correctly at the reduced temperatures found on the street and most track day riders, as opposed to the higher temperatures found while competitively racing on the track. Also, material, construction and costs are totally different for each type; Race tires costing significantly more than the street tires, and often require a racing license to purchase. They are designed to offer maximum grip with one or two heat cycles only. And when I say maximum grip, I mean the fastest guy around the track with his elbows on the ground.
In short, you will never get the heat into the race tires to really enjoy them, and a street tire will generally have better wear, more stability and superior wet-weather performance compared with a race tire, offer similar grip (and most likely more) at real-world tire temperatures, and give constant performance over many heat cycles - all for less money.

My favorite is any of the new street tires (i.e. Dunlop's Q3+ - et al) - all of which are impressively good on the street or track

Not that i have noticed but to be perfectly honest at speeds of 100 or over my eyes are glued to the road.

The track is where it's at. When I lived in Ventura California, I rode with a group of guys on the weekends. We would get out early in the canyons before the kids came out. We'd hit the Rock Store and then head home. We rented Willow Springs and Button Willow on a few occasions, we limited the amount of folks, which brought the price per person up, but kept the squids to a minimum. We also had an ambulance at the track, which unfortunately had to be used.
I had friends killed on Rt. 33 and Rt. 2, one paralyzed just around the corner from the Rock Store. I love to ride and push it, but don't anymore, I guess experience and age has something to do with it.
Ride safe.
