I now have both bikes in the stable. The Audace & the Californian. I have ridden both. I have also read the reviews. I love how the Audace rides and feels on the road. The California is good and feels like a different bike. Both have there merits. I prefer at the moment the Audace. I am very pleased with this bike. If you read the reviews you might think the Audace is a bad bike. Quite the opposite actually. I find the bike to be a blast to ride. It is quite a bit lighter then the California. It handles better. I find it almost as comfortable as the other bike. Now for long trips the California has it beat. Every day riding I prefer the Audace. So don't let the reviews scare you. The bike is fantastic. Ride it first and decide for yourself. Anyone else riden or owned both? What is your opinion.

I have owned a AUDACE since the very first one arrived in OZ,
Mine was the first registered in WA , I'm the mechanic at Thunderbikes, have ridden every Guzzi model you could think of, of the 1400's the AUDACE is best in my books.

Heyzeus, Thanks for the comparison, I have a 1400 Cali and have often contemplated on trading my V-Rod in on the Audace but was always afraid that it would be to similar. This will now let me keep my eyes open for the right deal.

Most of the reviews of the audace I read or watched were positive.

To me its biggest problem is that it is not a distance bike due to how the bars are setup. It isn't sold as a distance bike though, they call it an urban touring bike.

I will say though I agree it is a fantastic bike. I really enjoy mine and it seems to draw a crowd of harley riders when I take it to bike nights. I can't think of many factory bikes that compare to it in the looks department.

I'll second that. I love the handling and style of my Audace vs say custom: Matt Paint, traditional round headlight, pegs not boards and it's no slouch either, but as you can see from a previous post, the touring drawbacks are easily fixed. You can fix a screen, rack and luggage to it as well as change the handlebars (search for Handlebar risers for Audace to see what I and others have done). There are several options. With a bike like this, customizing is half of the fun.

I let my buddy ride my Audace all day. He tried my California too. He likes both. He does not understand why there are not more of these on the road. He liked it so much he went out and bought himself a Griso.

I only sat on the Audace when I bought my Eldorado, and was amazed at how different it felt. A much more sporty ergo setup.

Because most people get scared off by people who buy them that think or expect them to be built like UJMs. The saying goes "Moto Guzzi: Making mechanics out of riders since 1921." Takes a special kind of owner, but for those that do get hooked, are lifers.
If you love your Audace, wait until you put a 180 series rear tire on it.

Does this negatively affect traction control calibration or ABS algorithms?
