So rumor has it we might see a V9 based Stornello/Scrambler at the Euro shows in a few months. I suspect it will remain stock frame/twin shock. Curious as the thoughts of the group here on one?

News to me and I'm definitely interested to see what they produce. I don't imagine it being much more than a styling exercise again though. I understand the Scrambler thing is hot right now but at least Ducati came out with a fairly capable machine in their Desert Sled.

I hope they push the envelope a little further this time around. Beefier frame, more suspension travel, skid plate from factory. Of course I'm not looking at it from a bean counter's point of view.

Sounds like it'd be close to the Yamaha SCR950 in style if they kept most things stock but added a few knobby-ish tires and an arrow exhaust? It would be awesome if they made it like the Bullit X-Track and updated a few things to make it a real dust beater.

I was going to wait for something like that or even a more road-focused version.

But the number 7 (well, followed by a "0") made me grab the V7 Stornello instead. Wasn't sure at 70 that I had time to wait for Mandello to do a 9 version before I was 90! ;)

So, glad to see some stirrings there; hope that is going to happen.

I couldn't be happier with my V7 Stornello, and I like the flexibility of access to unpaved roads. That said, I have no illusions about it being an off-road machine ... and don't care. If Guzzi up-guns the V9 version with some robust additions it'll be good news. Can't imagine a different frame happening, but even skid plate and improved suspension would make it worthy.

Bill
