Technique for Putting It On Center Stand?

My multistradas I always stood at port side, footed the ctr stand's outcrop while lifting at either the pillion grab rail or pillion foot peg bracket and no problem-- up and back they went cleanly onto the stand. Not this beast. Open to suggested technique(s). 6'2" 220 lbs and in shape ... little embarrassing to have to ask this, ha !!
 
That's basically the technique with this beast. Just make sure you are pulling up on the pillion grab rail while standing on the center stand. When you put your weight on the center stand while lifting up on the grab rail, she should go back by herself.

This question gets asked from time to time, so you may get other ideas by searching out those threads on the net.

Try doing this after lowering the bike and being a whopping 5'7' & just 160 lbs. Yes, it's a beast. Some days I have to remove the two panniers to do it. Does make for a good workout.
 
Necessity is a mother .... and when I lowered my Stelvio an inch or so with a new suspension, I exacerbated the "center stand pull" problem a bit.

Simple solution for me. I realized that I never actually put the bike on the centerstand unless I'm working on the bike, changing a tire, or in some situation where I need to turn the rear wheel, OR have the bike vertical. That's not very often - it might be a month between times when I put the bike on the stand.

Soooo .... I carry a foot-long piece of 4" wide 5/4" inch flooring board in the bottom of a pannier. When I need to put the bike on the centerstand, I just drop the little board on the ground in front of the back tire, roll the bike up onto it, and put it on the stand. It goes easy that way, being already 1-1/4" up in the air ....

I hope I can explain this so it makes sense.

On the old loop frame Guzzi's & the T series I would use the "foot" part of the center stand to bring it down.
The I would get my right foot on the curved part & slide it back until it was on the very end of the stand.
Then it would be like kick starting, a little jump & down thrust while keeping the left foot on the ground & pulling up on the frame.
I found if I turned the handle bars to the left & held onto the left grip with the left hand it also helped.

Never owned a Stelvio so have no idea if it would work.
I always had to find work arounds being a 125 lb skinny guy.
 
You've not seen poor design until you see the SW-Motech centre stand for a Suzuki DR650. So much for the much vaunted German engineering! :mad:

I find it is easiest by pulling up on the crash-bar with my left hand while holding the passenger grab handle with the right hand and standing down hard on the centre stand with my left foot.

Took your idea with a 4" wide, 2 " tall piece of wood with a small ramp cut into it & yup, sooo much easier to get the bike up. Thanks!
