Hi All - I have searched the forum and have not found this problem exactly. Please forgive if I missed it due to poorly formed search terms.

My 2015 V7 special has been pretty flawless until this past week. It starts OK cold, but after sitting for 1-2 hours, it is difficult to start, requiring throttle input and a bit of warmup then runs fine after that.

It also seems to be fine if restarting when hot after only a couple minutes, e.g. a fuel stop.

I saw other threads indicating it might be Lambda or O2 sensor?

Any input is appreciated!

Are you parking in the sun? It is know that sun light heating temperature sensors will giving erroneous info to the ECU which can cause this.

Yes, in all 3 cases, esp the last 2. I was on campus at Texas A and M on a hot day and parking on hot asphalt lots in full sun and temps above 40C. Good history taking, maybe you should be a Doctor! So the follow-on question is how to prevent it? Draping your jacket over the bike? A cover? Or simply anticipating it will happen and giving a little gas when starting under similar conditions?

You can get a “space blanket” aka survival tent and use it as a cover while it’s parked in the blistering sun. They’re made of an extremely thin, light, reflective foil and designed to reflect >90% of the sun’s UV and IR, reflects away most of the heat.
