Just bought a perfect original Breva 1100 muffler. Looks really nice but I would imagine not sound as good as my aftermarket pipe I was wondering if anyone removed the baffle inside for better tunes? If so how did you do it? Thanks!
I know it doesn't fit my Sport 1200 yet, but am looking at ways to fit it. :)

I bought an 08 sport silencer for mine, the triangular stainless one .

the outer stainless case is rose welded to the mounting bracket so I undid that slipped the case off and the inner stainless silencer I then cut around the weld at the tapered end which held the cat (removed that) and drilled 3off 1" holes in the baffle in the other section . then reassembled . Standard looking silencer gorgeous rich sound and very free breathing.
My work mates(car drivers) love the sound , always opening their windows when I pass them out on the road.

I used a 2mm wide slitting disc and cut round the edges of the welds , because the outer material was so thin and cracked from the shaking I opted to mod the 08 silencer and use that.

I have a standard pipe too. Your mod looks great. I have a GPR muffler that has a hole in the bottom from dragging on the road as well.

Standard muffler is HEAVY! It is also a Z shape internally and doesn't lend itself to modification, very easily.

Tony, get the GPR fixed and change the mounting point, either through a short extender tube or some other mounting modification.

I experimented with the offerings from Emgo - found they were poor quality, sounded shit and did little to improve performance until I cut out the internal mesh. Still sounded shit though, after all that.

Todd has a nice muffler, the GTRX Reverse Cone Muffler. I have one of the early ones (I think the design has changed slightly since). Worth a look...

Plenty of others on the market, as well.

Thanks for your replies gents. Pity the Breva pipe can't be modded easliy- very nice looking pipe and the one I bought it spotless. My other two pipes are festy. :(

Thanks too Android for the pics. I'm a bit slow though- what exactly did you do to the pipe- is the bottom pic what goes insode the standard outer. (carbon and chrome end cap???? Ta

the bottom picture is as you say "what is inside the standard cover" I split it open at the tapered-straight weld ...removed the Cat and drilled 3 extra 1" dia. holes in the baffle inside then re welded all back together ....result is a very pleasing growl but very little loss of weight. Get up and go is very much improved, bike breathes easily. Fuelling is unchanged .

I have tried to load other pictures showing the process but it won't have it.

Thanks for that. What I am going to try is drill the rivets off the front of the 1200 muffler and mod it similar to you then join to modded Breva 1100 rear. Looks like it will fit,. Hybrid! :)
