GPS Installation

Bummer! OK, where's the next best place tap in to switched power? Somewhere neat, probably under the tank stil would be my preferencel.

Not-with-standing that, I still have these questions ...

This my 1st Gutz and my 1st fuel injected (all that electrical stuff in the tank) bike. How do I take the tank off this thing? There must be electrical connections and fuel connections under there. Undoing the screws/nuts which hold the tank is easy, but what do I expect to find? Are the various connectors just "pull off" jobs or are tools needed? Can I lift the tank enough to get my grubby little mudhooks in? I can't find any specific mention of tank removal in the Ssevice Manual.

... coz I eventually (sooner than later) want to remove the canister and associated plumbing and install Todd's Forced Air Kit. I'm keen on knowing what I'm in for before blundering in.

No need to even touch the tank
Remove the plastic cover in front of the tank (between front forks and tank) and on the port side just tucked under the tank is a plastic connector for the Tom Tom GPS. I have a Garmin GPS and just tapped into the existing plug with spade connectors. Just make sure you connect the live and earth to the right slot. Trial and error for me it was.

Hmmmm, there's quite a difference in our documentation. I don't have either of those pages either for my bike or for my GPs, nor do I recognize any of the pics there-in. I have a V7iii Special. I suspect that you have a different model - perhaps a Californian?

Yes this is for the California 1400. This is the thread for that model. Can't help you on the V7.

Don't know about the newer v7 special but on the older v7 like mine have a green g.p.s. tomtom connection tucked behind the headlight bucket behind the dash.
