Hello Guzzi community,

I just joined the forum. I am planning to buy a California Custom in the near future.

I want to double check something, maybe someone can confirm this. I want the bike to double as a weekend two-up motorcycle for my wife and I. She will only ride if there is a back rest. I want to purchase the exact one from the California Touring. I did not see it as an official accessory for the California Custom. Can it be purchased and fitted? - looks like it should. Same for flyscreen, will it fit?

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Martin

I went through the same situation last year. I bought my 2014 already equipped with the fly screen and a factory touring seat. It works better than one would think. I purchased the back rest from AF1 (not in the attached photo, as it is not very attractive and is removed for photos). My wife won't ride without it. I was a sportbike guy for years and always thought it was impossible to get a decent two-up experience. This bike changed that thought. It is an excellent two person ride! Now my only regret is not discovering it years earlier. To answer your question, the official accessory should fit. Ride safe.

Excellent, thank you for the reply. Coming also from the naked/sport world. It will be my first forward foot controls. I really like the small fly screen you fitted - well done.

If you're looking for the small official Guzzi screen, let me know. I don't ride long enough to really need it, nor on the highway much, that I took it off. Will sell and I'm in the Toronto area.

I believe I am correct in that the backrest was fitted as standard to the Touring SE, but bear in mind that you cannot fit a rack with this unit should you wish to do so in the future. Hepco Becker may be an option?

My touring did not have a backrest on it but I had the big top case fitted in any case. I have both of the rear seat grab rail sections one for the case and one without and that only has a three light attachments so it seems like it might be a little light for any type of back rest. The top case (it is called the rear rack assembly) grab rail bolts to a pretty substantial sub assembly that is attached under the wheel well and has an adapter plate bolted to it for the case. There is a B063993 - PASSENGER BACKREST in the Guzzi catalog that bolts to the standard grab rail.

Is the screen you are referring to this one (ref. Af1racing)?
OEM Moto Guzzi Small Screen for Eldo/Cali Custom (AF1-2S000548-2S000542-606255M)

For the California 1400 Custom you want the OEM Moto Guzzi Screen Kit 2S000028. It really does knock the wind off your chest.
See my picture of it installed. IMG 1110

5F521CB7 619C 4CBB BA34 14EB220B058F Really like that screen - but I had discarded it since footnote on part fitment says that it does not fit the 1400 Touring. If this statement is true, does it means that the headlight bracket on Touring does not have the fastener holes as shown in picture?

If you still have that small screen to sell I am interested.
