well, Im in Cape Town, South Africa, and the proud owner of a MG stelvio ntx, MG sp1000, MG v65 [my daily commute!], MG v50, MG 1000 convert {with which I work with film crews, filming cycling and running races] and a morgan replica 3 wheeler with a LM 1000 motor [very quick!]
There are a few moto Guzzis in Sout Africa and as a matter of fact a South African friend of mine is at this very moment touring the Americas on a MG California [2003 mod] which he had shipped over from Cape Town to South America
There are no Guzzi agents in S.A. and I tend to rebuild, service and repair a lot of Guzzis in our area. There is talk of Kawasaki S.A. taking on the MG agency here which could be quite interesting

Hi Charlie,

Joined today when I saw your post. Back in 1981 I had a prang on my mk11 Le Mans 1000 Ago which unfortunately left me paraplegic. I still hanker after bikes, but lately my thoughts have turned to.. a guzzi reverse trike! You refer to one, is it the Blackjack Zero? I would love to own one, but my finances will probably not run to that in my lifetime  I am however a mechanical designer, and would love to design one, and maybe I can get it built at some stage. I also used to own an SP1000 by the way. What are the chances of finding cad drawings of a guzzi engine and gearbox? I don't know what engines if any are available in SA, but a drawing of any one will be a good start. My idea, mainly because it would be easier and cheaper, is to have an engine,'box and drive at the rear, and I could use hand controls for gears and clutch. Reverse could be a problem, though not insurmountable. Front end, probably a vw beetle axle, suspension etc. I would appreciate it if you or anyone could give me some pointers as to Guzzi technical data? Failing cad drawings, some basic dimensions would be useful

Looking forward to having my "rolling thunder" under me again some day!

Brian

Charlie, welcome to the Forum. I've surfaced a few Guzzi owners in South Africa on our Facebook page. They do't post much, and never here.

Can you send me info on your friend and traveler? If they make it to Los Angeles, I always enjoy catching up with fellow Guzzisti.

Post often, and again welcome.

Hi Brian, there are motors and gearboxes available locally , I bought JZR [check it out on the net} chassis and did the rest myself, What you should look for is a MG automatic setup , they work very well and would be easy for you to ride Front end on mine , cortina stub axles on "A" arms , she handles beautifully I will get a buddy of mine in durbs to get hold of you
