Yesterday. traded in my beautiful 2017 California Touring. After going round and round with Piaggio's euphemistically titled Customer Care department. My closest Moto Guzzi dealers are now about 120 miles away. I won't bore you with details but suffice to say that I had two issues that Piaggio refused to discuss. I've been a loyal Moto Guzzi rider since 2001, I've been a 2001 California Bassa, a 2013 Griso and a California owner. Piaggio will never get another cent from me. Loyalty means nothing to Piaggio. I will miss my 1400 cc twin but not the never ending issues with this bike. Ride safe...

Unfortunately, you will be joined by others who also feel that they bought a bike from an "absentee manufacturer".

Hi Mark

If you don't mind me asking, what were the issues that tipped you over the edge, they must have been pretty serious to lose your shirt on a trade and on such a beautiful bike too. I know you have posted previously about Piaggio not covering the cost of towing bike after it wouldn't start, but were there other things as well?

I just got back from 5 days riding in Utah. On the way up the daytime temps were in mid 90's. The Guzzi ran hot, so hot that I have a nice pink burnt patch of skin on my right calf. The second morning I discovered a few drops of fresh oil under the bike on the concrete of the motel parking lot. I spent about 10 minutes looking but couldn't determine the source, it wasn't much but added to my frustration level. Third and lastly I couldn't get the cruise control to set at 70 mph on a level plane. It would constantly default to either 68 mph or 73 mph. At 70 mph I was averaging 42.5 mpg. Gas stations in South Eastern Utah are few and far between. Niggling detail I know, but my BMW will maintain any speed I set. I'm no stranger to hand built quirkiness, this is my 4th Guzzi.

I have a BMW R80 Airhead Twin for my second bike. Although it's a 1986 model the insturments ARE NOT FOGGED UP! I have my Guzzi's replaced once only to have the new unit fog up within a couple of hundred miles and yet... the manufacture STILL instists there is no problem. Really, if Moto Guzzi wants to be a big player in the US market they really need to step up to the plate & address them instead of fobbing them off.

Did you ever find the source of the oil leak?
