My Norge had been mostly Resting In Peace on our doorstep for the last 4-5 years since I somehow lost my interest in riding (and shouldn't really any longer now, with a back problem that became apparent last year).
But yesterday she went back to Ride Inducing Pleasure - in the hands of a new owner who intends to use here for the same purpose as I bought her almost 11 years ago. In addition he'll be able to do what I never could for lack of a suitable workplace: maintenance and tinkering.

He rode her home some 250km avoiding the highway, and despite 6y old tyres, 5y old oils, total lack of pressure in the rear brake and 3 year old gas he rang me to tell me he arrived home safely and happy he decided to buy the machine.

It felt strange seeing her leave under someone else, and the empty spot where she'd been sitting for so long ... but she did leave me a hickey on my forearm to remember her by a bit longer (and how quickly those headers get HOT) :)

FWIW, the front Dunlop Roadsmart cannot have had more than 5000km on it and looked like new, but apparently the new owner found a crack in own of the treads 50km from home...

Thanks Brian,

Making the decision was the hard part, or so I thought. Coming back here I realise I'll miss ye'all too (though it'll be easier to come back here than to get back on a bike). Truth be told though I think life and I will just move on to other things, just as I've in fact been doing the last couple of years.

I think that part of what made me "lose interest" in biking is that it was too closely related to a professional life I've had to say goodbye to. Getting my own car must have been the death blow - it's a lot easier after all if you don't have to bother with gear and weather conditions each and every time you need to go somewhere. As I told Bill Hagan a week or so ago, I had to move the bike last year, so decided to take her for a spin before putting her back when the usual spot was available again. I just turned around not much more than 10min into the ride because just riding without going anywhere no longer did (does?) anything to me.
