I have done around 60000 klms on a 14 Touring and living remote to dealers means I do my own servicing so I'm looking for a reference from others on a slight pulsing that mine gets when between 3800 - 4800 rpm in any gear and more noticeable when traveling uphill.

Does anyone else experience this and or is it normal?

Thanks

Not normal, no. It is very important to have computer software to connect to the bike as it may be telling you what is wrong, and equally as important, the Throttle Position Sensor should be checked often with software, or at the very least to speak with a dealer about a possible map update from Guzzi.
That said, I offer two solutions, One is this; https://www.guzzitech.com/store/product/tr-alaris/ -- and the other is this which includes the software to communicate; https://www.guzzitech.com/store/product/gt-rx-pc-v-at300-ecu-flash-tool/ -- the results of this expense are shown here; https://www.guzzitech.com/forums/threads/guzzitech-gt-rx-modded-cal-14-dyno-vs-stock.13773/

Thanks for the reply. The products look to be essential for me regardless. I'll be ordering shortly.

I would add that I had the bike on PADS recently to get the latest maps and clear some issues as even a Luddite such as myself are aware of the importance of s/w to maintain its citizenship.

It possibly is the fueling but my mechanical intuition is singing that it may be shaft or bearing related and a paranoia exists as I thought i spotted that the driveshaft needs replacing at reasonably low mileage; is that the case and or do Guzzi get vibration due to shaft wear?

Mea Culpa time - in my quest to locate where this damn vibration was coming from, I was positioning myself all over the bike at speed to find it. As I got down behind the fairing the vibration mostly went away. Put my head up and yep it was back...... Seems I've been wearing my favourite helmet too long and it is vibrating about my head at certain speeds allowing my brain to think it was the bike.

As the saying goes, if you can't laugh at yourself how can you laugh at anyone else.

Swapping the lid for a newer one and case closed !

Heh, yes... and the problem with internet diagnosis(!). Glad it was an easy one.
Raven, saying as I know it... “Problem is the loose nut behind the handlebars.”

Turns out I'm not a total nutjob. The vibes lessoned overall with the new tighter lid but there was still an agressive resonance from around 4000 rpm.

Checked tappets - all good, plugs/leads -all good. The bike itself was vibe free at speed (120) except the extremities like bars were amplifying the resonance and the exhaust seemed to be a possible source. I have std pipes and I'd pushed through the rear baffle plate to add some more sound to drown out the sewing machine ages ago. Checking inside I located another baffle plate deeper in - hmmm. Once those plates were removed, the resonance is much less noticeable except under load starting at 4000 rpm but otherwise it's running like a Guzzi on steriods, super smooth above 4500 rpm and sounds awesome. 4000 rpm must be the 1400s natural frequency so I'm going to try tightening everything up and see if that reduces it further - I'll keep you posted.

PS could use some more fuel lower down and I'm saving some cunning kick for Tod's flash

Eventually found the buggers causing the vibes. The long spark plug caps were broken internally and the bike had been arcing away for some time. Explains why it was more pronounced under load. New leads installed and all good now

Can you tell me what leads you replaced with, Mine have also cracked, riding in NZ summer and winter rain is a fact of life which is why I have shrink wrapped my stock leads to retain some weather proofing. thanks.

At first, I simply cut the lead on the lower cap and used an aftermarket long NGK cap and modified the rubber cover from the original lead. I tried the same technique on the upper plug but the NGK cap was to big for hole and got jammed.

I bit the bullet and bought four new leads from Guzzi which arent cheap but when you see how they're made its justifiable.

I've slipped some cable ties over the installed plugs and left them long before pushing the leads in place. Not pretty but this will allow you to pull up the caps and off without putting pressure on the cap internals.

Big difference in performance for my bike so worth doing

Another discovery is the OEM Dunlop rear tyre. I've had three now and they all go square or deform badly as I try to squeeze more life out of them but I never quite reach the wear bars. The vibration resulting in a constant shudder will extend to the handle bars. I thought my head bearings were cactus until I swapped out the rear tyre and all is super well. Went with an Avon this time and I won't be going back by to those bloody OEM Dunlops
