Anyone have a listing of the transmission serial numbers for loop or Tonti 5 speeds? I am considering swapping out the trans from the Eldo (and get it PROPERLY shimmed... by NOT ME) with a unit I picked up.
Anyone know what model bike a trans # T18331 might have come from?

Looks the same as the Eldo but the serial number is completely different.

Alex, good question but I don't have the answer. The only sticky point in swapping out 5 speeds is the speedometer drive location. If it is in the same spot great, but from the 850T and possibly V7 sports, the drive output is in a slightly different location to clear the frame on a Tonti bike. Also if it is an older unit that has the single loop shift return spring, those springs are prone to failure, but the spring can be replaced with a double loop spring.

Hey thanks for the info John.
I had some time this AM and decided to check out the internals of that replacement trans BEFORE attempting install.

All my concerns regarding the trans have been eliminated. The gears are rusted and I won't be using them.

oh well, back to the drawing board.

Alex
