Throttle catching

So my throttle is starting to catch as i twist it. Is this a sign that I have a cable letting go? I started noticing last summer that on warmer days, it was harder to twist it.

I can roll it about 10 degrees and then is starts to catch.

This is an 08 Norge.

Thanks guys!

If you follow the cables they go under tank on LH side, I have fixed a couple that were pinched w/airbox and frame kinking the outer cover of cable. I'd pull tank and find problem.

Guess my Sunday is going to be a tear down day, as i need to do some work on the fairing anyway. Hopefully it's just bound on something. Why did I fill the tank last night (other than gas was lower than usual...).

I should consider getting an air filter too while i have the tank off

I'm actually going to try lubricating this cable before I go much further. A trusted friend of mine suggested spraying some lube into the cable. I've never done it, and the dealer i bought it from had the bike for 18 months or so before i bought it. It likely needs some lube.

The cables on Guzzis are now plastic lined. A lubricant usually gums up the works. Check the routing first and if it is still hard to use, replace the cable.

I've never touched those cables on my 07 Norge and they are still just as free as they were back then. Look for another problem with the routing first.

So the linkage on the throttle bodies is pretty gritty. What should I clean them with? I'm guessing not wd40?

It seems this wasn't the throttle cable at all, it was the heated grip lead not having enough slack in the cable bundle. I was noticing while twisting the throttle that the whole cable bundle would move, and after adjusting the slack afforded the heated grip lead at the rubber strap the catch went away.

I did still spray the linkage on the underside of the throttle body though.

G'day

I too was having a problem with my throttle catching on my 1200 8V Sport, to the extent that is was an el- cheapo cruise control.
Didn't want to pull tank and I had some genuine Guzzi heated grips fitted a fair while ago.
So as they say "A picture tells a thousand words".

Remove bar end weight

Remove bar end weight boss, soon as I loosened the boss the catching went

Then as you can see the rubber grip fits onto a hard plastic barrel/sleave. Well it was this sleave that was fouling/dragging on the bar end weight boss.

By pulling the grip back to expose the barrel and at the same time pushing the whole concern out towards the end of the bar. This gave enough room to grind off the throttle barrel with the Dremel.
Hope this can help
