Dropped of my V7 2 Stone with 650 miles for them to resolve its "barely able to run" issue and while there torque the heads and set the valves. Service writer said MG's made some recent changes to the maintenance schedules and they now recommend it be done at 3,200 miles. Anyone else hear this?

Doesn't make sense to me and no I haven't heard about a change. I do recommend the early re-torque, also re-torquing at each service interval until it takes no more torque as observed by rotation. I back off 1/8 turn, then re-torque. When it gets to the point that 1/8 turn results in the proper torque, then there is no need to torque again at the next service interval.

John your technique makes sense so that's what I'm going to do myself. For now how I left it with the dealer (while it's there) was for them to torque the heads (as spec'd in my manual) then set the valves. When I pick the bike up I'm going to request he check, while I'm there, to see exactly which bikes this new schedule applies to?

Brian this is from a mechanic at a dealership I just visited for the first time and it contradicts our manual so I'm dubious until I can confirm.

I wouldn't be surprised if MG discovers they can extend intervals on newer designs, the redesigned hemi head motors for instance.

This it what MG say about V7II (Stornello). Ie every 10 months - or corresponding 10.000 km interval. Whichever comes first. Skarmavbild 2018 08 20 kl 133314
