Hi all,

I've been wondering about getting some more light out of my Breva 1100. Osram makes a 75W H9, called 'cool blue' or something. Would it melt something if I installed it?

Thanks,
Tobin.

Hi guys, I would recommend the osram night rider is as Brian said but has anti vibration technology. Only half the life of the standard bulb but twice the light output with no extra load on the charging system. I found them well worth the investment.

I'm in the process of replacing the horrible stock headlight of the 1100 Breva. I'll be using a 7 inch LED headlight installed into a standard bucket thus replacing the entire unit. I'll post progress once I gather all the parts. I'm trying to get the whole job done for under $400.00.

I've already done this on my 1200SE Griso. The brightness is fantastic, much brighter than stock. The spread is much greater too, with the high beam punching a spot light type beam in the middle of the low beam. Color temperature of the lamp is similar to incandescent. I reckon I did it for under US$100.

I'm thinking of doing that too, altho I would probably spend the big money for one of the fancy motorbike specific ones. I'm just hesitating because I actually like the look of the Breva headlight. The whole bike has kind of a weird aesthetic that's grown on me, and it matches pretty well.

These guys make it motorcycle specific. https://revivalcycles.com/collectio.../products/united-pacific-7-inch-led-headlight Just a bit to expensive for the same unit. I will purchase the headlight bucket from them.

Go for something like the Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited. About twice as much light on the road as the normal bulb, yet still the standard wattage. Philips also make a similar product.

I have the Phillips equivalent and now I can see the kerb on dipped beam.....which is nice

Sorry I've just reread the title. I only replaced the dip beam bulb. Main beam is standard

Look like nice lights, however I only need one. I guess I could buy these and sell one.

Yep, and nowhere near US$400.

There is a bit of work involved, the mounting thread is 5/16" UNC, but an 8mm 1.25mm tap cleared that up. I then loctited a 8mm stud in, and a 8mm threaded hex 40mm long to provide the necessary spacing the existing bolts that held the original headlight shell on (with a couple of half nuts to make sure nothing moved) all in stainless steel. The Breva will be a different challenge as the headlight is mounted differently, but a 1200 Sport should be the same (where my other LED headlight is most likely will end up.

The only thing I found was a bit weird was the turn indicators incorporated which wouldn't work because they were above and below each other rather than left and right. I thought initially that perhaps the LED headlight is mounted top and bottom on the Jeep, but that would mean a tall thin beam and not the wide beam I'm enjoying. If anyone can explain the error of my thinking I'd be grateful.

maybe i'll have to go to a LED bucket. the main problem i'm having is that the Breva uses a H9 high beam bulb, and there don't seem to be any good upgrades.
