2007 Norge gremlins

Cool...I'll try a dealer. I'm still working on finding the previous owner. Any things to look out for by people who know would be great. Cheers!

The symptom I had on my Norge was the oil light staying on after starting. I turned off immediately and restarted, and the oil light stayed on again. I repeated a few times and eventually the light stayed off. I then rode home and it didn't come on again. I was in France at the time so home was a little way. It was only when I got home I found reference to the oil pump issue and pulled it out.
This is what I found.

...The most pressing is that once the bike warms up (about a half hour)the neutral light will not engage. And while that in itself is no big deal, if you stop it OR put down the kickstand (that'll kill it when it's hot) then it won't start until it's cool...I've been stranded. Putting the stand up or clutch in while in gear will not help...I cleaned the clutch sensor switch but it just won't start until cool again...

My 2007 Norge 1200 [2-Valve] had identical starting problems (hot start failure). Even after I bought a brand new battery ($125) the evilness continued. Reading lots of stuff here and on WildGuzzi indicated it was a manifestation of the same "classic" Guzzi electrical design problem I had on my Breva 750cc: Weak volt/amps to the starter solenoid.

This $40 kit from MPH Cycles completely solved my hot-start problem:

http://mphcycles.com/starter-relay-fix-kit/

The 6" Plug&Play cable goes between the small starter relay and an its existing connector, both under the seat. No splicing or cutting. A fused hotwire goes to the battery (+) and feeds pure battery juice into the starter relay and thence to the starter motor solenoid.
