Houston, TX: Italian Superbikes shut about a month ago..

All,

Locals probably know, but our Guzzi dealer in Houston shut abruptly a month ago. Sad to see this as they were a superb Guzzi dealer. Bought my V7 III Special from them about two years ago. Hoping Mike Haven at MPH can still do basic maintenance. Also lost MV and Aprilia: and yes I have an almost MV 800 Dragster RR. I guess nobody likes Italian bikes in Houston other than Ducatis.

Bummer, but rest assured it's not them personally, more that selling niche brands and dealing with the demands put on low volume dealers just doesn't add up. I sat with Piaggio ~2 years ago to check feasibility, and it just didn't make sense to be worth the effort. Quite sad.
I'm sure Mike/MPH would do basics for you. Tell him I said hello.
 
Yes it seems the importer puts a great burden on dealers. The importer doesn't care if the dealer survives so long as they get their money from them. A fellow with an independent shop in the city where I live asked me about picking up a Guzzi dealership. I like the guy so I advised him not to in the Huntsville AL market.
