V9 Roamer Windscreen, Cases Guards, Rack Installed - PICS

I recently picked up this 2017 Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer and since it's winter and too cold to ride, I set about accessorizing

Givi 140S windscreen, with the Givi AL8202A "fitting kit"
Givi SR8202 Rear Rack

This is the Givi 140S windscreen, with the Givi AL8202A "fitting kit". The assembly and installation is straight-forward.

These are the Givi TN8202 engine guards. Easiest engine guards that I've ever installed. One side at a time, simply remove the two frame-coupling bolts, hold the guard up and use the supplied hardware.

Installation of the rear rack and the side case carriers will require a bit of head-scratching, especially considering those wonderful Givi installation instructions. There are a lot of spacers of different thickness and extra bolts, washers, etc.

Put front wheel in a chock and strapped the handlebars. Taped up the paint and covered everything and then removed the left shock and both passenger footpeg assemblies from the frame.

Remove the two left side fender stay bolts and then zip-tie it back together and then remove the right side fender stay bolts. Carefully move the rear rack assembly into position and run in a couple of the bolts to the passenger footpeg assembly holes - just enough - and then rear fender stay. Snip the zip-ties and run bolts in there. You're gonna need to use a pry bar to open up the gap, in order to get those spacers in there.

There are a lot of spacers and washers and bolts and stuff. I just took my time and started tightening up the fasteners a little at a time and that's when I discovered where many of those spacers went. Some parts of the instructions are wrong.

Helpful hint #137: Make sure to re-install the shock before completely installing the side carrier.

These are Givi Trekker Dolomiti 30 liter cases. Originally designed as a top case, but they've become popular as a smaller side case. They're lightweight and well constructed. Very robust lock sets. Big, fat keys.

I just love the simplicity and ease of taking these cases on/off. :)

Overall rear width is approximately 37", with both cases installed. Interesting that they appear much larger in these pictures. Maybe I need to work on my photography skills.

Manages to make it look classy and classic ... and useful.

W/s takes a bit of "getting used to" from my tastes, but, hey, your moto.

Moreover -- aside from "who cares what you think, Bill" :giggle: -- if it's functional, it's great.

As it's still early February, maybe you could try a large fan at warp blade speeds to see how it works. :rofl:

So, we had a quick "warm" day of 40 degrees and sunny and two days of rain before that - so maybe all of the salt was washed off of the road.

It was a great bit of wind therapy and a reminder that it's still winter. Nothing to complain about. Not yet. Except that it needs to be ridden more !
