Sunlight making instruments dark

i am experiencing the darkening of the digital instrument when hit with direct sun. It gets dark enough that you cannot read the information. Anyone else experience this and what did you do about it. This is on California 1400

Yeah, me too. The darkness seems to go away within 10-15 minutes after staring to ride. If your bike is still under warranty, head out and talk to your dealer about it.
 
Yes, I think it may even state in the owner's manual about the guages doing this in direct sunlight for extended duration. I usually throw my jacket or gloves over mine if I leave it in direct sunlight.
 
Was normal on my 1400. If I parked in the sun I covered it with a towel.
It has to do with a certain temp being reached when you are moving it keeps it cool enough.
I don't think it ever blanked while riding.
 
Yea, mine does this while riding since I'm in So Cal. Sometimes I cannot read the instrument
