Hello
My California Aluminium sport has not been used for the last two months.
I went to fit my Optimate battery charger to the bike today and discovered a dinner sized wet patch on the ground under pretty much the riders seat is.
The liquid on the ground is clear and oily to the touch.
I have laid on the ground next to the bike and I am unable to see even using a torch anywhere that the oil may have leaked from.
The bike has been unused in a locked dry garage for a couple of months and the leak has only appeared in the last couple of days.
Has anyone got any pointers as to where I should start looking for the issue?
Many thanks in advance, my mechanical knowledge is pretty limited.

Good question, but is it engine or gear oil. The gear oil has a distinct smell to it. Oil may be from the last ride so it you haven't looked at the bike tor two months the source has probably dried off.

Assuming it is engine oil it will likely be the drain pipe from the airbox, mine sometimes has some sit in there and after a real hard ride will drop a little bit, also if the sump is a bit full it will throw a bit out. The crank case breathes to the frame and eventually the airbox. Lay under the bike and it is just behind the transmission. I think the later models actually have a plug in the drain pipe so it doesn't randomly drop stuff.
