HELP!

Sent fork tubes to Todd and he installed the Matris F15 kit for my Carbon Dark. Received tubes back and put on my bike.
According to the instructions, when I try to adjust the preload I should hear clicks? I ran the preload all the way down (clockwise) and the preload all the way up (counterclockwise) and heard no clicks.
Has anyone out there installed? Any comments, advice (instructions wrong, Italian clicks mean clicks)?

Thanks Bill

Email Todd would be the best advice.

There are no clicks on the preload adjustment. In the instructions that come with the Matris fork cartridge kit are listed the default settings for preload as well as rebound and compression damping. You set the preload by measuring the number of turns you turn the adjuster from the fully open (or minimum) setting. (That means you unscrew the adjuster all the out until it stops; starting there you add preload by screwing it into the fork cap. The default is 6 turns in (or 6mm since this is a 1mm per turn thread).)

I've attached the
installation and setup instructions.

When I had my forks done (down at Todd's shop), the mechanic set it up to the defaults, then we worked out the right preload setting by working together, a combination of measuring the sag and what I expected/like in feel. The defaults in compression and rebound damping were good enough to ride home (400 miles), at the end of which I made a couple click change to one or the other so that it behaved the way I wanted after the experience of that ride. The preload has needed no further tweaking.

The other small change we made at initial setup time, at the advice of the mechanic, was to raise the tubes in the triple clamp by 10mm. He told me that he's
gone as far as 20mm for some customers, but I was being a bit conservative. This steepens the fork angle by a little bit and reduces trail, allowing the bike to respond a little quicker on turn in. It was an excellent change: combination of the Matris fork kit, the Conti RA3 tires, and this small geometry tweak have really sorted the front end out tremendously and made tossing the bike around much more confidence inspiring.
