B74B162E 7E65 4833 8F0F D33A3577A3BD I decided to swap out the Lucas Rita ignition that’s been on the T3 for a Dyna III. I ran into a problem when I went to replace the sensor plate and rotor in the distributor. The Rita rotor requires the points cam/lobe to be removed. The Dyna needs it to mount its rotor.

So I need a distributor points lobe. Anyone got one around? Maybe someone that converted to a Rita? I’ll give you the Rita parts for it :) Then you’ll have spares....

Anyone know if the Magneti Marelli S311B is the same for the T3? I'm away from the bike for a week and would like to source a used distributor.

You may not need a complete distributor. What you need is something to take up the space between the distributor shaft and the Dyna rotor. A machinist should be able to make something up that would do the job.

Thanks John. I found a used 311B on Ebay and ordered it. I'm covering at work for a pilot that retired so I'll be on for the next 168 hours straight (7 days :(). If I don't shoot myself between now and then it will at least be waiting for me at home.

Since the Dyna has no built in electronic advance, the stock Marelli advance unit is necessary. If one just fitted a spacer, there'd be no advance, just fixed timing.

Thanks John and Amboman. I found one on eBay and got it installed in the T3 with the Dyna III. It started right up.

I still have the Rita if anyone is running one and needs spares. The coils are 6v and have 1.6 OHMs resistance. Is this correct? They were wired differently then the black Dyna 12v coils I installed (in series?).

I’ll put the timing light on it tomorrow to confirm where it’s set but with just the static settings it’s running great.

The Dyna III is flawless. Immediate starts and excellent throttle response. I sync’d the carbs before I took off and the bike is running like a champ.
