I have been working on my 2007 Norge 1200. I'm - hopefully - in the end phase as things go back together.
  • The fuel tank has been off & the pump out for a new fuel filter.
  • The instrument panel has been disconnected for some time (a few weeks)
  • New plugs (inner and outer) have been fitted
  • New air filter fitted
I had hoped to complete the service today by reassembling the fairing and going out for a short run before changing the oils. This does not seem likely right now.

When I reattached the instruments to the loom, I had no errors and the bike ran. I stopped it, turned the ignition off and moved the bike outside. When I fired it up again the red warning light came on and the word SERVICE came up on the dash: https://imgur.com/a/uwTdEx4

I thought I would read the diagnostics so I went into the dash settings and selected Diagnostics. It asked me for a code so I used the one I set when I got the bike - and conveniently wrote down in the manual, so I know I didn't get it wrong: INCORRECT CODE. Curses.

I tried several times more, including having a go with what might be the default (0000) but no luck. I wondered if it might be a dodgy connection so I eased the panel forward, undid & redid the big connector behind the panel. No difference.

When I turned the ignition on I get the code APSN 0002 on the screen for approx 5 seconds before the dash activates fully. I now don't seem to have access to Settings on the dash, just Chrono. I am wondering if my dash has now decided to lock me out in some totally annoying way.

The battery is low on voltages now, having been connected to a partially disassembled bike for some while. I have put it on a charge now in case the system is complaining there's now not enough charge (although the bike starts and runs beautifully).

Service code (for Norge, at least) is 28315.
Thanks Bill, I shall try that in a minute.

No clue about that APSN 0002, tho did see this thread here:
Excessive corrosion on battery terminals? B1100
I have the bike on charge at the moment and just flicked the ignition on - no APSN 0002 code, so I guess it's related to battery strength. I'm hoping this battery will recover OK.

Best from the soggy top of Virginia,
Thanks Bill!

Well Bill's kind sharing of the service code helped me see the diagnostics.

The three pics show that the ECU has error 56 and that the dash might have a vast number of errors or almost none - I shall have to do some googling to find out what this means: https://imgur.com/a/ecDblNZ

I responded to your other post before reading this one.

ECU error 56 is a "Vehicle Speed" error. Because the Norge has a sensor on both wheels to count revolutions for ABS purposes, one or both of them is also used to drive the speedometer. You may have a fault in one of the sensors.

Try clearing the fault as described in my other post and see if it reappears. If it does, you have an active fault.

I took the bike out for a spin this evening to warm the oils through. The dash lost the SERVICE signal and the big red ! within 25 yards :)
