Hi,
i have had the oil warning light acting weird (off - on when it wants).
So i replaced the switch - no joy, i had a look at the pressure valve in the timing chest and the spring was worn
I have ordered a new spring, the puzzle is in the book there is 1 washer but mine has 3.
I don't know if the previous owner put 2 extra washers in to compensate for the worn spring
or it was calibrated with 3 from new.
I don't really want to get the special tool and a gauge to re calibrate it if possible.
Does anyone know if by adding washers is the correct way to calibrate these or it was a bodge job.
So my options are put the new spring in with 1 washer like in the book or put the spring in with 3 like i found it.
Any thoughts or info would be appreciated.
Thanks Joe

I have not found a spring coming out of oil pressure sender in front of LH cylinder on any V65 I have worked on. Usually 1 alu crush washer. There is a spring and plunger under the neutral sender in the center of the trans though. Are you on the correct sender?

The pressure Valve next to the oil pump in the timing chest.
Sorry for the confusion ( i have amended the post)

As you stated, I would assemble with one washer. Also I would remove the oil pump and inspect that for wear as well before putting everything back together.
