So, much to my chagrin, my machine that was running fine an hour ago will not crank. I am having it towed to my storage garage where I have tools and equipment. I hear the fuel pump running, and the start relay by the battery is clicking when I push the start button. The battery is charged. I feel like it may be a bad starter motor, or loose connections at the starter. The engine will spin (I tried to pop-start the bike to no avail). Until I get it to my work space, perhaps some of you may have some suggestions of other things to check? Much appreciated!

Rob

Does the engine spin, but not when trying to use the starter? If so, I would suspect the battery even tho you say it is charged. Try measuring the battery voltage when the start button is pressed, and if it drops significantly, the battery will require to be replaced.

There is a design issue with the start relay being fed from the ignition switch that can cause problems. The solution is to cut the yellow wire feeding the start relay, and fed it via a fuse directly from the battery. For more info, do a search on this forum using the key words "Modern "No Crank" Starting issue solution".

Temporarily jumped Bat+ to the yellow wire and bike fired right up. I then removed the jumper and no start. I'm going to run the fused lead from the battery. Thank you, my friend! *and I didn't have to pull any plastic *

I have the same bike, which HAD the same no-start problem.

Spend $40 and get the quick-start kit from mph. This fixed it permanently for me:

Installation took about an hour and only needed one wire (included) connected to the battery [+] terminal. The rest of the kit was an integrated Plug&Play cable that all fits under the seat between the small starter relay and an existing connector. Easy, clean and No cutting or splicing of original wiring required.
