Hi,

I made a new group of friends in town and went riding with them for the first time.

We started off at Cars and Coffee and got a lot of thumbs up on Todd’s exhausts. Not terribly loud, but throatier than most bikes. Next we went up the hwy 192 to hwy 150 to Ojai, then 33 down to 101 and back to Santa Barbara, the whole way ranging between 50-80 mph. The temperature ranged between 70F in Santa Barbara to 101F in Ojai.

It was my first time riding the V7III in this hot of a weather. No loss of power, no leaks, just keep going. To say the least, being air-cooled and all, I was impressed.

Hats off again to Todd for the exhausts. Many people thought they come stock from the factory due to its matching finish and transition from the pipes.

PS: I had trouble accelerating and keeping up with them in a straight line (i.e from a stop sign). Them being Triumph Bonneville, Triumph Street Twin, FZ-07, Aprilia Dorsoduro. When I squeezed the throttle, I got a nice deep sound from the mufflers, and the other bikes disappeared on me

Aren't there curves in Santa Barbara to make it more sporting? :giggle:

Seriously, with the possible exception of the Bonneville, surprised you could even keep that pack in sight.

As you know, riding at 80 is not the V7's strength, but 'tween 40-60, in compartmented country, hard to find a more grin-making machine.

Best,

Bill

OK - so it’s not entirely because I sucked lol... The way I rode: 0-30 mph in 1st, 30-50 mph in 2nd, 50-65 mph in 3rd (except yesterday i let it go between 35-65 mph), 65-80 mph in 4th.

I could only keep up on consecutive curves (30-50 mph) when everyone slowed down, I caught up and hung with them, then got left in the dust again on straightaways until the next stop light or if there’s a slow car in front.

On the highway, everyone was riding 75-80 mph where my bike would vibrate (my comfortable cruising speed is 55-60 mph). Regardless, it was a fun experience and great guys to hang out with.

I started to venture out on the 154 to Cold Springs and 192/150/33 to Ojai. Might ride solo. My riding style is riding 50-60 mph and enjoy the scenery, make stops lol

Your and V7's performance in that pack sound pretty normal to me.

I rode my V7 III from vic. Erie, Pa., to home yesterday, entirely on back roads, i.e., no interstates or even 4-lanes out of built-up area.

I rode that entire distance pretty much as you described your own ride, i.e., 40-60, stops (for, e.g., historical markers and burgers :giggle:), and enjoying the scenery.

Best,

Bill
