Side stand light on dash remains on with stand up.

anyone know how to bypass the stupid dash light for the kick stand? I’m not sure if it’s in the system or if it’s with a connection to the tranny that kills the engine when this light is on & placed in gear.
I put the side stand up, the light stays on. Put into gear engine shuts down because of the safety switch. 2006 1100 Griso.

Spray some contact cleaner into the switch and operate the stand a few times. You could bypass the switch, might save you a few seconds, but could also shorten your life by decades. The safety switch is there for a very good reason.
 
If it's doing this when the gearbox is in neutral, it's more likely to be the neutral switch on the gearbox. You will have to remove the starter motor to get access to it, I'm thinking from memory (not so hot these days!).
 
If Brian's suggestion doesn't work you may need to replace the side stand switch. I doubt the neutral switch is part of the issue.
