Sorry if this is something obvious, but I could not find the answer: when I was working on the startup malfunction and the tank taken off I noticed this:

uc

Checked where the other end is attached - top of the gearbox case. I think it is this part:

uc

Question: What is its function and should the top end be loose like it is on my bike, or attached someplace?

Pretty sure it is the breather/vent hose for the gearbox. Just make sure it doesn't get pinched/blocked .

Yes, trans breather tube, goes up & tucks under intake snorkle in open air. that is stock for Breva style airbox. rear airbox is different.

What do mean by rear airbox? Different airbox design that is used by MG in other models, but not in Breva?

Heh.... I am not so sure it was tucked away, as it was laid on the frame tube and the opening was facing the front of the bike. Not a very good job my mechanics did on the bike, I have to say. I have to correct it now.

Thanks Kevin. I will fix my pipe's end there next time I have the tank removed. The bike is not roadworthy now anyway and I have to take the tank off to fix high voltage installation which corroded here and there.
