So Wednesday was pretty wet in East London. 12 miles into my commute home Stelvio starts running real bad. Dash starts messing around. Feels like it is off a cylinder and at 3k starts to run OK. Dash is still doing crazy stuff.

Friday, bike has been drying for 36 hours after not willing to behave Thursday morning. Took the XT.
Took dash off and checked and sprayed connector.
Took both supplies off ECU checked and gave a wee spray as well with servisol.
Same for relays , fuses, plugs and plug caps.

Start it up . Runs OK for 15 seconds then back to no difference.

took off speed sensor from CARC dried and resealed it today. No difference. Starts up nice just to fool you. 15 seconds later the craziness begins again.

I bought a dash last year as my previous one had water damage.
Bought & refurbished one.
Never really cured the problem.
The Stelvio doesn't like the wet, which is a real shame as I love it so I do.

What is going on?
Maybe I'll send my dash back for a checker.

Cheers

Only ride in dry weather (wouldn't be possible in Auckland at the moment) to determine that water is getting in, somehow.

If the fault shows up in the dry, then you have other problems.

It doesn't happened in the dry.
Today I went back out.
Ran great for about a minute then you could hear it running weird. Then the dash went black stripe. Started back up fine then maybe 20 seconds later it went South again so it did.

Help me somebody!!

Cheers

Only ever seen one plug. But then I've never looked for more than one.
Why does the clip on the end of a plug wire need to be genuine ?

I'm suggesting the whole caboodle should be genuine. Not worried so much about the coil end, but there is a history of issues when the wrong type of cap is fitted to the spark plug end.

You might need to whip the tank off and have a look. I'm assuming it is a 2 valve (per cylinder) version, but I realize assumptions are the mother of all f**kups.

We have a winner so we have....
Baldrick.

Replace your plug leads was wot he said.

So I took all the plastic off. 20ish bolts
Left side first . New HT lead and clip for coil end.
Cleaned and gooped up ECU and any other connectors I saw.
Right hand side disconnected the feed to the coil which was full if water as it goes upwards.
Off with the HT lead and there was a goodly amount of green and corrosion and a wee hole.

Changed the lead and clip. Sealed it all up.
Cleaned and gooped all the connectors in sight.
The plug caps had already been replaced and the smaller bottom boot fitted
Put it all the plastic back on and we're rockin so we are.

Let it rain !!!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, PDFs and general Guzzi love

Cheers

So...
After all the above waterproofing and replacements I reckon it is cured.
I rode 950 miles over a long weekend, from London to Ireland ( and back) through Wales. Two countries which know a thing or two about rain and all things damp.
It was a pleasure to be riding again in heavy rain with a bike beneath me that didn't care either.
