For a long time my 1200S has had a plasticky sounding rattle/knocking noise coming from the front whenever I ride slowly over sharp road imperfections.
I thought it was coming from the headlight but after much trial and error I discovered it was from the front guard. Have tried a number of ways to stop the noise but as yet no luck. Anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
Cheers.

Front fender?
I get a buzz from the Stelvio handguards I put on mine. It drove me crazy until I figured it out. It's only the right side that does it. Now that I know what the problem is, I can ignore it more easily.

Yes, fender/mudguard. I guess noise is around attachment points. Have tried soft washers between fender/mudguard and fork but it made no difference.

On my 12S, the front left side mudguard mount bolt was not all the way in, and would not go all the way in because it wasn't tapped deep enough. An extra washer or two solved the problem.

It does have the correct bolts in there, right? I think they all have a little shoulder on them which is wider than the bolt thread.

Yes all the correct shoulder bolts. Removed guard again yesterday and sound went so refitted with 1mm thick rubber washer at attachment points and strips between guard and where it recesses into fork and noise is still there. I give up !
