I'm sure I've missed this somewhere in the forum, but here goes.
I'm 69 years old and the Stelvio gets heavier and heavier. I'm considering a v85tt Travel.
Can one of you give me real world miles per gallon, please? I tend to ride long distances and range between gas stops is important to me.
Thanks in advance.

Bill, what speeds do you average? The 85TT is geared pretty low, so it spins high RPMs compared to redline at Western US freeway speeds. The dashboard shows an average of 50-54 mpg, but actual calculated is less. If you’re used to Stelvio power, you might be disappointed. My V85TT full of fuel with the top case on (only and empty) is 525 lbs. not a ton lighter than the Stelvio to me.
Sure others will chime in.

When I first purchased my V85, I tested the absolute limit with a small backup container tied on the back. I use metric units, and tested the range until dry. I got 420 km before the fuel ran dry (on a new motor; should get more now). But this figure is also dependent on ambient temperature and elevation. This translates into 260 US miles.

Interesting was the the range left as the tank emptied. It was showing reasonably accurate figures I thought, until getting closer to empty, when it started to get erratic. From showing 30 kM to empty, it dropped to 10km in less than half that. Not to be trusted.

I reckon you should be safe with 200 US miles. But don't blame me if this doesn't pan out.

My V85TT will easily do 230 to 250 UK miles on a full tank. Sometimes more depending on the type of road or style of riding. I've never taken it down to the last drop so can't vouch for the accuracy of the fuel warning light/reserve.

Thanks, Todd. I was used to a decade of FJR power before I adapted to Stelvio grunt and coudn't be happier with the change. But I've got a leg which demands I push a lighter bike out of the garage in the morning, even if only 60 pounds. And, as I've fallen love with the MG twin, the V85TT should work nicely. If I can get 225 miles out of a tank, I'll be content.

How does a UK mile compare to a kilometer? Is it about the same as a US mile?

You learn something everyday :)...

An imperial (UK) mile is the same as a US mile: Mile is an imperial and US customary length unit and equals to 5280 feet.

One mile = 1.609344 KM (approximately!)

Our American cousins have different ways of measuring volume: 1 UK gallon = 1.201 US gallon.

IMG 1452 IMG 1867 Hi Bill
I am 68.
I use to have a Stelvio which was fantastic. I had to sell it when I moved to Canada 4 years ago. Now I have a 2007 Griso and a new V85TT bought in mid February 2020. To date I have done 2500 Km on it and am averaging 55 to 58 MPG. The first service was done at 1500 Km and now it is at home off road as well as on the mad freeways around Toronto. So far no problems except, and other owners have confirmed this ~ some nuts bolts and screws have been tightened by a Gorilla and others by a Fairy. Luckily my dealer did a very good job of going over the bike and showed me some examples but as I found out the other day it pays to check. I am not into giving reviews so all I will say is that a Guzzi is always going to vibrate always takes time to get use to and always to my mind gives total satisfaction. The V85TT has the most bells whistles and lights than I know what to do with, it is more refined so in that respect you will notice a big difference. Go for it.
PS The Griso is more fun, but my arthritis only lets me ride it for an hour or so in a session.

I have ridden a bit over 2000 miles over the last month, so have had a few fillups.
Best result is just under 60 mpg, that is backroad and dirt staying between 30-55 mph.
Worst was 47 mpg, all highway with cruise set at 75 mph.
The gauge counts down the miles until it reaches 20 miles left, then turns off. I filled up a few miles after that and put in 5.1 gallons. So when the bike says I'm out of gas I still have a full gallon left.
So range is an easily 275 and 350 is possible with a bit of throttle restraint.
I should note that I fill the tank, right to the top, not when the hose clicks off.

Checked mileage twice during break-in. Both times got 55.7 mpg. Haven't checked since break-in was reached. I'm never too far from a gas station. I wouldn't hesitate to travel on my V85tt; don't miss my R1200 GS at all. Did I mention how beautiful this motorbike is?...

85 on the speedo is actual 80 on gps. 64 is 60 so in east Texas at an honest 80 expect 45 mpg. If you can find a no wind day out there. At a steady 55 on secondary back roads 54-55. I just did 1600 miles in the last seven days mostly back roads in N/C, VA, WVA average 56 mpg. Av speed 46.
