Didn't want to clog up another thread with this discussion, but I mentioned it in the registry thread. I'm desperately in love with my V85 in a lot of ways, and it's absolutely lovely around town or on back roads, but once I get up around 75 MPH or so, I get some nasty vibrations through the handlebars that really do a number on my hands. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience and if it is/isn't a problem and if you did or did not do anything about it. I was thinking about messing around with the bar end weights a bit, but I can feel that the way the bars are "tuned" there's a spot of low vibration right where the web of my thumb is. If I could move that a little more outboard it might help the rest of my hand. I also don't have the bark busters on, not sure if that makes any difference but I'll throw them back on and give it another go.

I just want to see if it's possible to get this bike into a configuration that lets me pound highway miles if I need to. I'm not overly eager to do that, but living where I do if I want to go west it means a state and a half of plains riding.

As a side note, how's the calibration on the fuel consumption on other bikes? My computer isn't even close, usually it reads nearly 10 MPG low at all times, similar to the Griso that I've got. If the computer is telling me I'm getting 40MPG, I'm actually getting 50, etc.

The only 'discomfort' I've experienced with the V85 is a patch of mild vibrations around 4,000rpm. With the standard bar weights etc. I've not had any issues with my hands at any engine/road speed.

I'm not sure how accurate the average consumption reading is on mine. It usually shows between 53 and 58 mpg. When we can start riding again for pleasure here in the UK I'll work it out properly by keeping a log of distance travelled and amount of fuel used.

I've got 780 on mine so far but all back roads so i can't answer the first other than to say mine is the smoothest Guzzi I've owned at up to 5500 RPM the farthest i've gone so far. FWIW the v7 series feels wound up at 75+ but will run there forever.
as for the calibration something is wrong. mine runs 55-58 MPG and that's what it reads on the dash. u can calibrate the daash in the settings I think it's ABS or traction control but it might be worth trying otherwise the dealer needs to put it on the computer and see if it's fixable.

Well that's encouraging. Maybe it's just me and my riding position/posture/etc. I bought some grip puppies that might help. Won't know for a while though, the bike's in for the recall work.

Different engine I know, but my Norge started to really smooth out at about the 6,000 mile mark, then got even smoother as the miles piled on. By 10,000 miles, smooth as silk.
