I've just noticed that again my Griso is leaking oil from under the valve covers. I replaced them a while back when I tore the valve cover gaskets when I was doing a valve service. I'm now on my second set of gaskets (first were OEM, second were Valpolini sent to me for free by a very nice person out of Australia) and it's leaking again. Not sure if I've got a plugged breather or what, or if I just need to try the gaskets again. It's starting to get the engine coated in oil and some of the rubber needs to get replaced since it's swelling now. Been a right pain in my south end.

Try the gaskets for earlier 2 valve Guzzis. They are part number 14023760. They are thicker and seal better.

You may just be unlucky in the sense of older gaskets become brittle, even when they sit on the shelf for any period of time. I recommend getting the ones noted below (976139) that won't be free. ;)

John, they added a B to that string for a "premium" version. All I ever use these days is the newest 1100 gasket; 976139B "These composite gaskets have a steel core with a bonded exterior coating on both sides to assist sealing." They seem to last forever, even with repetitive use.

Obvious question, but is that a part that you carry in the store? I took a quick poke around and didn't see them in there.

Not on the Store, as I’m not a dealer, though I do stock them at my shop (amongst a considerable
Inventory of consumables and problematic OEM parts). Email is best as I can’t catch every post here; Info at GuzziTech.com
