Changed gear oil today, and this came out. Any ideas?

CG -- more information please. What model, what year, what mileage. Are you observing any external seepage? By "gear oil" do you mean 500cc "gearbox" or 170cc final drive (I'm using V7 III numbers)? It looks to be a single loop -- is this correct? Does it seems to be a manufactured part (eg o-ring) or an applied sealant (eg, tri-bond)? Thanks for sharing.

2017 V7III, 4500miles, 500cc gearbox oil. No leaks anywhere that I can see, bike runs amazing, shifts great. It's rubbery, maybe an applied sealant? Thanks

CG -- I have the three printed manuals for the V7 III (my Stone should be delivered in a few weeks). I searched the parts and engine manuals for gearbox breakdown drawings. Neither showed a gasket between the front and rear sections of the gearbox. Nor was there a gasket of that size in the parts listing. Nor was tri-bond sealant mentioned in reassembly. I certainly an not an expert (there are many on this forum) but I'm inclined to agree with you. It's excess sealant. But I'm curious how an unbroken ring of sealant could move from the case perimeter to the drain hole. Topologically it doesn't seem possible.

Thanks for your reply, and your research! Looks like something that might have gotten in there from manufacturing, or something that got in there when I took it in for it's first service.
