Well I did it. Replaced the Sachs shocks with the Matris. The install was difficult as the Matris fork was made for the "Kaifa" not the Sachs. One of the problems with servicing the shocks on my 2016 Eldo is that the fork nut/ fork leg will not drop through the triple clamp because of a flange on the nut. Most of my bikes that I have done service on previously were Japanese sport naked and race replicas which you remove/loosen the cinch bolts and the whole thing drops through the triple clamp. On the Guzzi, you have to loosen the fork nut with the legs in the bike and then use a spring compressor to move the spacer down enough to hold onto the nut at the bottom of the fork nut (difficult because of limited room). The problem with this is two-fold. One, you need to make a special tool measured out to 19mm and you need to remove the handlebars and you need a second person to hold down the spacer in order for you to put the 19mm on the nut below the fork nut. Another thing to do is, to use a large slotted screwdriver to expand the triple clamp top and bottom to remove the fork leg. After this, you can remove it. The reason why I will not go into any of the particulars on install as I don't want someone to do it and have bad results. The main difference between the Sachs and the Matris is the size of the bolt at the bottom of the lower fork leg. M10 fine (Sachs) and M12 1.25 for the Matris. The reason for my going on about this is because it has been my plan as I change front tires on whatever bike I have is to renew the fork oil. The fork oil was wasted after 12,500 miles black and smelled like sewer water. Going to ride it tomorrow and do any adjustments. One thing I will say it is a lot easier to work on the Matris than the Sachs. A couple of pictures as I painted the lower fork legs while I was at it.
