Thinking of Adding an Gen 1 Norge to the garage. A good or bad move?

Anyone bring greyed plastics back to black? That seems to be the chief imperfection on the bike. The tupperware attachment points look good.

I have bags on a 1990 MilleGT and read somewhere that using a heat gun would refurbish the plastic I tried this method and it works great… You have to be very methodical & careful to do it evenly so you don’t get stripes and not overheat
My bags were bleached out More gray than black and when I was done they look almost new… Try it on the back part of bag first to get your timing down.Heat the plastic up to it’s very shiny but not bubbling… Good luck

Hmm, something new I’ve never tried. I will have to get a busted bag to practice and learn this technique on.

Do you have before and after photos?

Well, the '07 is in my garage and, holy cow do I need to clean my garage! Also, I think I'm going to try a couple rounds of Solution Finish on the bike's plastics as it seems to be the latest and greatest black trim restorer. My experience with classic bikes tells me to either just apply peanut oil periodically or spray paint the faded parts gloss black, though I don't know if what works on old Hondas works on modern plastics.

My first mod is likely to be a new shock followed by the Matrix fork upgrade kit.

Congrats on your acquisition ... and on (re)contracting a terminal moto-di$ea$e. :giggle:

Good move, too, on those "first fixes," especially that rear shock.

As for restoring black trim, etc., I agree re b2b as a start. It's easy to find and use. None of these products are permanent cures, and thus will require occasional, even frequent, retreatments. Brian's heat-gun approach was interesting news to me; will try that this winter when all my Guzzis are in the spa. ;)

One product that I didn't see mentioned was "Wow." I have not used the newest versions, but my "classic" has been in my shop cabinet for quite a while, a little goes an astonishing long way. See http://blackwow.com/index.html. It's on Amazon and elsewhere on the web.

1921!

Congratulations!

I have the Matris fork kit and Matris rear shock on my '12 Norge. What a difference. I would try to do both together or close. I did the fork kit first and the rear end kind of wallowed until I replaced the shock.
My first mod was to remove the rear interstellar escape pod and rack. I ride most of the time without the panniers as well. The bike is lighter and handles better.

I did the Matris fork upgrade and got a Penske rear shock/spring combo (from here), got a Corbin seat. I did have the oil pump replaced as a preventive measure, the original was still OK. Oh yes...the status interruptus among other odd and ends. The bike is very hot (temp-wise) especially with the lower plastics removed, like yours. You will love it on twisties. Oh yeah, you may want to refine the fueling somewhat.....My '07 only has 75K miles on it. Good luck!!!
