Hello, A little over a month ago I bought a used 2016 Audace with 1500 kilometres. It was a repossessed bike with only one key. Lucky for me I found the code was the last five digits of the vin. I got a couple of Guzzi key blanks from the local dealer. Cutting the blanks was no problem. But when I go to use them, every time the bike first asks for the code before they work. The original key still works fine. Is there a procedure to get the bike to recognize these new keys as mine?

A procedure that was written by another user that I grabbed for posterity.

Programing KEYS
1 Key on, not running
2. Toggle to Menu and select.
3. Toggle to "Diagnosis" and select, it will prompt you to enter the service code.
4. Toggle to Change Keys.
5. Select change Keys and enter your user code. It will then prompt you to 'enter key to be programmed.
6. Switch off the ignition switch. The LCD will give a message "Enter 1st key to program' insert key and turn on and off.
7. The message now pops up "Enter Second Key" Insert second key, turn on and off, and so on. You have 20 seconds to complete the programming.

Once you are out of keys to program, let the system count down/time out, and test your keys.

Not that I have any new keys to program, but what is the "user code"? Can't say I recall being assigned one when I bought my 2014 Cali1400 Custom... I've used the Service code twice already to turn off that pesky wrench symbol... ;-)

When the bike is new the user code is set to 00000, you can change this code to a personal number, many people use the last 5 digits of the VIN. This code allows you to program new keys and also start the bike if the transponder on the key goes faulty. This user code causes a lot of grief to people who have purchased a second hand bike and don't know the code. The dash has to be sent away to have the code re set.

My question shows I’m not well versed in user codes. But my understanding is it’s a five digit number you can input that lets the bike know the key you have put in is legitimate. I’ve read dealers often have already done this expecting the purchaser to personalize that number later if desired. The dealer might use 00000, 12345, or the last five digits of the vin.

Ahh. Yes, I now recall reading something of this. Thanks.
