Rubber clutch inspection bung has fallen in transmission.

I can’t believe this has happened. My wife was looking for the source of a slight oil weep at the clutch inspection port on her V7 racer and has accidently pushed the clutch inspection rubber into the transmission.

Have tried to fish it but we can’t even see it.

Please tell me true is a always to get it out without pulling the transmission off.
 
There are probably a lot of places where it could get hung up in there,
I don’t know how big that plug is - so don’t know if it could make it out the drain.
If it was small you might be able to flush it out ???

If it is small enough it might just get ground up and get washed out with a couple of oil changes EXCEPT that those little rubber pieces would plug the filter...

Wet shop vac with a small hose that fits in the filler hole ?
The plug would get caught in the hose - then you know you have it...
 
I have a bunch of spares of those things, and I really don’t know why. I’ve not dropped any into the ports, but that could happen day after tomorrow. ;)

I only chime in to say that I read here one time, I believe, that all you have to do to restore pliability and soften those is boil them in water for a few minutes. I use the microwave down here in the Moto Grappa and darn if it doesn’t work. :clap:

Oh ! So its in the *Bell* housing * not really in the transmission
Right. That plug is to the bell housing, where the dry clutch lives. This isn't the first plug to fall into the bell housing, and it won't be the last. I would plug that hole with another one, or a wine bottle cork. But I would not worry about that plug causing damage. If it does catch on the clutch it will loose that fight.
 
Hahaha Thankyou so much everyone. You have put my mind at ease. Have ordered another plug and will pull the starter and at least try and get it out, otherwise RIP little black plug.
