V7i Clutch

So the V7i clutch is as far as I am concerned, it's worst feature, and also it's weakest mechanically.
Is there a way to improve it, to make the lever a lighter pull and the action more positive, and the plates less likely to slip?
Or do these requirements all work in opposition to each other?
 
The lever gives you the mechanical “advantage” over the clutch , I could never understand the “Shorty Lever “ thing as it would increase the weight of the pull, but *maybe* change the feel of engagement ( how far the lever has to move before engaging?)

So a change in lever might affect your “weight” and engagement ? one better one for the worse !

For the clutch itself there might be other ones on the market ?

Honestly, you don't hear that many complaining about the V7 clutch. There have been some issues, like when the factory forgot to install a bearing when building the bikes, or the poor routing of the clutch cable causing it to contact the exhaust pipe and mess up the cable.
So I am not sure you aren't having issues that are more about your specific situation vs issues from a poorly design clutch. The V7 clutch design is pretty old, so if it was a bad design I tend to think it would have become very apparent by now.
If you want to improve it, I would suggest looking into adapting a hydraulic actuation mechanism, a hydraulic clutch slave cylinder, to the system. That is almost always a better system than a cable operated clutch. It can reduce the effort at the lever, improve feel / increase engagement travel range, and be self-adjusting.
But I would also make sure you aren't trying to engineer away a physical problem with your existing system. As vagrant said, make sure the lever at the back of the trans is moving freely and make sure the cable is in good condition and properly routed / adjusted.
A properly adjusted and working V7 clutch will not slip. Not under the small amount of torque a V7 makes.
 
I have a 2012 V7 Stone, had it from new and the clutch has always been very heavy. The clutch cable is new, but I have not lubed the mechanism, will look into that, thanks.
As for adjusting the cable play, it is set right, but if I adjust the span of the lever to fit my short fingers, it is incredibly hard to engage neutral, if I take the play out a bit then it slips occasionally. The only solution is to have the span at a longer than is comfortable reach.
I will try lubing up the mechanism at the engine, but I don't think it is seized as the bike is only ridden on sunny days.
