Those of a nervous disposition look away now. My first ever tyre (or tire) thread on a forum, here goes :sweating:….

My V85TT is equipped with Michelin Anakee Adventures and so far, after almost 9,000 miles, they’ve proved more than adequate for touring etc. with no off-road use. They’re certainly long-lasting, the rear tyre still has plenty of tread left on it.

While I’ve got the rear wheel out for fitting a Pyramid hugger, I thought it would be an ideal opportunity to think about changing to something 100% road biased rather than the Anakee 80% road/20% trial.

What sort of mileage have owners got out of their rear Anakees?

Have owners fitted tyre brands other than what Guzzi recommend for the V85TT?

No clue on the answer, as am only 600 miles in on my V85, but I very much suggest changing tyres as a set, especially if going for a more grippy road tyre on the rear. I'd bung another of the same on and replace both front and rear on the next change.

My Anakee experience (use) front tire lasts (still road legal) 30tkm , rear tire change halfway 15tkm. I use 2.3/2.8 pressure and 20-30% is gravel riding.

I replaced both front and rear at only 4320 kM on the odometer, due to poor adhesion to the wet road, especially in strong side winds.

My choice of replacement was Michelin Road 5 Trail front and rear which I am very happy with. I have no intention to deliberately find gravel roads to ride on, but it does happen occasionally.

I use on my 1200 Caponord Rally, the Pirelli Scorpion trail 2 .
Very very good in all conditions , including wet conditions . Of course only on the road, not for off road.

Thanks for the responses. The V85TT is the first motorcycle I've owned that came equipped with true 'dual-purpose' tyres so I now have a clearer picture of what's available and the likely mileage to expect from the Anakees.
